This policy explains what information Detail Dose (www.detaildose.com) collects when you visit, how it is used, and the choices you have. The short version: we don’t ask for your personal information, we don’t use analytics or advertising trackers, and we don’t sell anything about you.
Information we collect
We don’t collect personal information. There are no accounts, newsletters, comment forms or contact forms on this site, so we never ask for your name, email address or payment details.
Server logs. Like every website, the servers that deliver our pages and images automatically receive technical information with each request: your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for, the referring page and the time of the request. Our hosting provider and our image delivery service (ImageKit) keep these logs for a limited time to run, secure and troubleshoot the service. We don’t use them to identify you.
Site search. When you use the search box, your search words are sent to our server to find matching articles. We don’t store your searches or link them to you.
Cookies
Our site sets no cookies for visitors. We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookie Detail Dose sets is a login cookie for our own editors in the admin area, which visitors never see.
Amazon. Detail Dose is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you click a “Check price on Amazon” button or another product link, you leave our site and go to Amazon.com. Amazon may then set cookies in your browser so that it can credit us with a commission if you buy something. Those cookies, and any information you give Amazon, are covered by Amazon’s Privacy Notice, not this policy. See our affiliate disclosure for how we earn.
Third-party sites
Our articles link to other websites, including Amazon, brand websites and our accounts on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and Medium. Once you follow a link, the other site’s privacy policy applies. We aren’t responsible for how those sites handle your information.
Selling or sharing personal information
We don’t sell or share personal information, including for targeted advertising, as those terms are used in the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar US state laws. Because we don’t collect personal information, there is nothing to sell, share or hand over.
Your choices
- You can block or delete cookies, including Amazon’s, in your browser settings. Detail Dose works fully without cookies.
- If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, such as California, you have the right to ask what personal information a business holds about you and to ask for it to be deleted. To make a request, message us on any of our social accounts listed on the About page. In practice we hold none, but we will confirm that.
Children’s privacy
Detail Dose is written for adults who care for their own cars. It isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect changes, for example if we add analytics or a newsletter, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
